Our urban cores should build the most homes, not the least. Burhan will push to make Boston build its fair share, so Winchester families can stay put. Also, Winchester should be able to grow at its own pace without outdated zoning rules. In Cambridge, Burhan unwound restrictive housing laws. He’ll do the same for Winchester at the state level so you can afford to stay and raise families.
Winchester’s new Lynch School is a model of an eco-friendly structure that supports the town’s climate goals, with solar installations on the roof and over parking to make it a net-zero-consumption building. This is a great start, but we can do more. Burhan wants to create more green buildings like it and add climate-friendly jobs and energy in Winchester and beyond by making it easier for clean-energy manufacturers who start in Massachusetts to stay here.
This popular Winchester swimming spot is closed too often due to high bacteria levels that can spread disease and make it unsafe to go in the water. Part of this problem comes from the continued use of combined sewer overflows, something Burhan has advocated fixing in Cambridge as well. You deserve a place to cool off consistently and safely, and Burhan will push to allocate state funding to improve the water quality.
